Welcome to Highfield Church

Welcome to Highfield Congregational Church

The Lord Is My Shepherd

Services every Sunday at 10.30am including Junior Church led by Val Baron and Renee Whittingham. Services are conducted by our own lay pastor and guest preachers.

First Sunday in the month services are followed by Holy Communion. Last Sunday in the month we hold a youth service when members of the scout and guide groups attend. Special services are held in May and October to celebrate the Church and Sunday School anniversaries. On May Sunday (the first Sunday in that month), the junior church members conduct the service. A Thinking Day service is organised by the guide group in February and at the end of April a St George’s Day service is conducted by the scout group. Other special services are on Easter Sunday, Harvest Festival (September), Remembrance Sunday and Christmas Day, with a carol service held in December.

Weddings, baptisms and funerals are by arrangement with Pastor Dowell.

SPECIAL SERVICES: We have our annual Christmas Toys and Gifts Service with the Salvation Army on Sunday, December 9 (please note 3pm start, no 10.30am service that day) and our own carol service the following Sunday, December 16. Coffee and mince pies will be served at the close of both services. Please support the Salvation Army’s collection of gifts for all ages. These will be distributed at Christmas to those in need and any items should be new, in their original wrapping and not wrapped in Christmas paper so they can be given to youngsters, men and women as appropriate.

ROOM USE: The church hall is available for events. For further details contact Jack Baron on (01254) 704812.

LARDER BOX: We have an on-going collection of long-dated foodstuffs to help the needy people of the Darwen area which is used in conjunction with collections from other churches in the town. If you would like to add to the collection please bring your items along to any church service.

A very happy, healthy and peaceful New Year to you all
